  • Still Open For Business

Over the last few days, we have put into place a variety of measures to ensure
that we can continue operating as normal as possible throughout this strange and difficult time.
From today, we will be running a small team of staff to support our online customers.
We will endeavour to pick, pack and despatch orders on the same day but please bear with us if we are a little late in getting your orders to you.
Our website is still fully operational, as indeed are all of our delivery partners.

  • Temporary Closure

    Dear Valued customers,

Like all responsible businesses, we have been monitoring and reacting to the advice of the Government to ensure the health of our employees and, of course their families, during these unprecedented times.

We MUST put the health of our workers first and so we’ve made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our offices, and all despatch departments from Friday, 27th March at 2:00pm. This will help protect our colleagues and make sure they can do the right thing to keep their families safe.

If you wish to place any orders after that time, please do so, but we cannot promise when we will get them to you.  Hopefully, the government restrictions will be lifted in three weeks.

We will continue to review the situation and will communicate with you regularly as matters unfold.

We hope you understand and appreciate our reasons for taking this unfortunate but imperative decision.

When the time comes to re-open, we very much look forward to welcoming you back.  Until then, take care and stay safe and well.

This includes hand sanitising and cleaning with disposable tissues, which are in constant use throughout our premises.

We are still able to dispatch your product through our normal distribution channels although we will be suspending the “click and collect” delivery method on our websites until further notice.
We would like to wish you all good health and please stay safe. We appreciate your support and understanding during these unusual times, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

'Comic-Cons' or comic conventions are events held across various cities (most notably in the USA and UK) celebrating the fans that make popular culture (TV/Film, Gaming, Graphic novels, independent artists) what it is today. It brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate their favourite brands/characters and have a great time.

Birmingham's Comic-Con attracted the likes of famous actors Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy), Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss), Brianna Hilderbrand (Deadpool, The Exorcist), Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica) and many more.

  • Celebrating Young Enterprise: we_are_basic

    YEL 2018 (we_are_basic trade stand)

Young Enterprise is an initiative to encourage entrepreneurial spirit amongst young people across the country. Learning essential business skills and practices, whilst broadening horizons to future projects and ideas.

    Question Time

    YEL 2018 (collecting award)

We caught up with the team behind we_are_basic to gain an insight into their success:

Q1: What inspired you to come up with the concept of "basic."...?

A1: We knew we had to listen to what was happening in the news to hop on any trends. The single-use plastics movements & modern slavery were 2 ideas we thought we could get on & make a change.

Q2: How did you find the show?

A2: The show helped give us confidence in speaking to customers and gave us an insight as to how the world of trade works. We observed how lots of potential customers questioned us on the origins and ethics of our company.

Q3: Do you feel you benefitted from getting the right products sourced and printed?

A3: Yes, as by getting products which are good quality and ethically sourced it proved that larger companies could do the same and contribute to removing sweatshop environments.

Q4: Has this inspired you to showcase at future events and grow the "basic." brand?

A4: Yes, receiving the awards at the Highcross Trade Fair empowered us and made us feel confident in our brand and in ourselves. Looking to the future, we would love to promote and sell our products at other trade fairs as the rewards are endless and we would only grow further.

    Feeling Inspired?

We specialise in Dye Sublimation. Whether you're an industry veteran looking to stock up, or simply looking to take your side hustle to the next level!

    Final Thoughts

With the sheer amount of single-use plastics polluting the environment, it's hard to turn a blind eye to something that will affect us all in turn.

It's refreshing to see entrepreneurs leading the charge in tackling important societal problems like toxic plastic pollution.

  • Sublisure In The Spotlight

    Sublisure (Edward De Bono) quote

    Why Dye Sublimation?

Up until the early 1990’s, Dye Sublimation printing was a luxury afforded only by established print houses working for wealthy, private clients. With the rise (and rise) of the internet, e-commerce platforms such as Etsy, Woo-Commerce and Shopify have completely revolutionised the industry in many aspects.

    E-commerce platforms

There’s no mistaking that printing companies are no longer simply ‘print houses’, with global brands like HP, Epson, Ricoh and Sawgrass transitioning towards an artistic lifestyle approach.

Starter kits and entry-level equipment are the staples of grassroots printing for emerging artists/hobbyists, allowing them to increase the speed and consistency in which they can get products to their clients.

You could effectively run a printing company out of your own home with the right combination of clever marketing and quality products!

Whether you’re in big business, agency, freelance or a hobbyist, getting the appropriate kit for your budget is essential. It’s never been easier to get into Dye Sublimation, with various systems providing tested reliability and commercial viability.

Our sister company ‘ISub Print’, for example, uses the HP Latex 315, capable of roughly 12 square metres of continuous printing per hour. Primarily used to fulfil orders from Artists, the Latex 315 is a trusty workhorse that can be effortlessly loaded with either Polyester canvas, poster paper and self-adhesive vinyl.

    Re-kindling the specialist spirit:

Print has traditionally been a major field of Visual Communication, providing an integral link for people to heed trusted advice/consultations.

The digital marketplace has been both a blessing and a curse to the printing industry, allowing a more inclusive, open-playing field for companies (big and small) to market their products/services. On the flip-side, traditional printing has taken a hit (only recently starting to recover).

Potential and existing clients need the reassurance that the products provided will help them to hit the ground running. It’s no good simply providing a status-quo ink system when the market is highly saturated with fierce competitors flaunting identical products.

    Enter Sublisure:

The idea behind Sublisure means giving you the ability to control all of the variables, giving you the ability to achieve total control over the quality of your work. We believe Sublisure offers the best quality and value Dye Sublimation Ink on the market.

We've teamed up with some of the industries leading disperse Dye Ink Chemists to source the best quality ingredients. Sublisure Inks are formulated to be consistent and stable, providing outstanding results each and every time you click print.

Inks are available in high quality, single-use, micro-chipped cartridges. The ink itself is vacuum sealed within a foil bag (eliminating oxidisation), produced in our own facility in the UK.

To compliment Sublisure Ink, we've created the relevant ICC Profiles, saving you time and money! These free files let you tap into the full spectrum of colours that Sublisure Inks can deliver.

We’ve optimised our inks to work in conjunction with the most popular Ricoh and Sawgrass Virtuoso sublimation printer models:

    Ricoh SG 3110DN

    Ricoh SG 7100DN

    Sawgrass SG400

    Sawgrass SG800

    Ricoh GXe 3300n

    Ricoh GXe 7700n

    Final Thoughts:

Finding the right combination of Inks for your printer is essential to consistent print quality. Like any other well-oiled machine, optimised printers will very rarely let you down when given specialist inks and the respect they deserve.

In today's fast-paced world, everybody wants everything yesterday. The demand for quicker, cost-effective printers and ink systems has never been higher. Whether you're just getting into Dye Sublimation printing or an industry veteran, platforms like Etsy, Woo Commerce and Shopify are essential battlegrounds to showcase/sell products and services in 2018.
